Javier, after being chosen as
the first place winner, was asked
to deliver his Speak-Up topic
before the General Assembly of
approximately 6,000.
“The biggest thrill to me was
not actually delivering the
speech, but being able to wear my
Allen vest while I presented it,”
he said.
Javier was the only first year
Jaycee entered in the competi-

“I had never done any type of
public speaking until I joined the
Jaycees. I guess I just have a gift
for gab.”
Javier was also among the top
