Don't Worry
If you are sick, don't worry, but begin at once
Ito make yourself welL To do this, .we but repeat
Ithe words of thousands of other sufferers from
I womanly ills, when we say:
CARD01
II Wffl Help You
For 50 years, this wonderful female remedy, has
I been benefiting sick women. Mrs. Jennie Merrick,
of Cambridge City, Ind., says: "I suffered greatly
with female trouble, and the doctors did no good.
They wanted to operate, but I took Cardui, and it
made me feel like a new woman. I am still using
I this wonderful medicine, with increasing relief."

foremost musicians of America.
Miss 'Beatrice Ratten will teach
violin and other stringed instru-
ments. Miss Ratten is an accom-
' plishedjmusician, having secured her
| musical education at the Texas
Christian ^University primarily un-
; der the instruction of Mr. R. Dyks-
terhuis,"who has never had a super-
I ior in Texas. With the departments
of music under the direction of these
young ladies I have no hesitancy in
saying that Hereford College now
| offers the very best musical advan-
tages to be had on the Plains.
ELSTÉR M. Watte-
Superior Advantages.
I wish to announce to the readers
of The Brand that Hereford College
will offer excellent advantanges this
year to those who desire to study
music. The piano department will
be under the direction of Miss Ora
J. Haile, who has spent the last four
years under some of the best piano
instructors in the country. Miss
Pauline Shirley will have charge of
the department of vocal culture.
Miss Shirley spent the past year in
New York and Seattle. Washington.
Horse Killed By Lightning.
Yesterday afternoon* just before
the shower, Walter and Billie Curtis
the two grand-children of J. W. Eng-
lish, were in the pasture trying to
catch the family horse when a bolt
of lightning killed the horse instant-
ly and knocked the two boys to the
ground. Walter, the older boy and
but 11 years of age, soon recovered
and ran toward the house, meeting
his grandmother English, who had
been attracted to the door by the
bolt. The smaller boy, age 6, was
still prostrated when his grand-mo-
ther reached him, but was soon up
and this morning both of the children
are all right. It was certainly the
protection of providence that both
the little boys were not killed.
Plans Adopted
The plans for the new building
for the First Christian Church of this
city have been adopted and the ar-
chitect is now at work on the detail
plans and specifications. C. Riser
of Amarillo is doing the work. The
plans will be ready in a few days
for inspection and final adoption.
The building will be located on block
45 and will face on Dewey and Welch
avenue. The plans will call for a
brick vineer structure,, containing an
auditorium with a seating capacity
of 450 people, a first and second
galary both of which will add about
600 more sittings, making the total
seating capacity of more than 1000.
In the basement, there will be
some additional rooms for Sunday
school, parlor, reading room, furn-
ace rooms, etc. etc. On the first
1 cor will be located the pastor's
study, two waiting rooms, two dress-
ing rooms, library and lecture room.
The interior of the building will be
finished in tinted plaster; stamped
steel worked in designs of the con-
ventional order will cover the ceil-
ing, in the center of which will be
placed a circular art sky-light. The
height of the ceiling from floor will
exceed 20 feet. The building will
be surmounted by a large dome, 25
feet in diamter, the tip of the spire
being about 70 feet from the grade
of the street. When completed, the
members of that congregation will
have reason to be proud, as the
building will be one of the best on
the plains.
Sunday School Institute.
In order to encourage more sys-
tematic work in the Sunday schools
of the district, there will be held at
the Methodist church of this city on
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the
same being the 21st, 22nd and 23rd
of August, a Sunday School Institute.
The institute will be conducted by
Rev. C. S. Fields of Fort Worth,
Sunday School Secretary of the
Northwest Texas Conference. He
will be assisted by his wife. This
institute is not for the Methodist
church only but for all the Sunday
schools in the town and county. In-
vitations have been sent tc the near
by towns and it is expected that many
will attend. Every school in Here-
ford will be represented on the pro-
gram and it is especially desired that
all the superintendents and teachers
be present at every session. The
first session will be held on Friday
evening at 8 :30.
Railroad Matters.
Everybody connected with the
railroad construction company is
busy as can be. The surveying corps
has finished its work and the com-
pany is having estimates of the
grading, etc., made. Mr. Irwir.,
who has charge of the right-of-way,
is hard at work trying to close that
matter up, as the construction com-
pany has notified him that they are
ready to begin wcrk as soon as
deeds have been passed.
A. D. Goodenough, president of
the C. H. & G. Ry., was in Amarillo
yesterday on business for the road.
Arrangements have been made.to
secure a fine teacher of stringed in-
struments at Hereford College this
year. Those interested in the violin
and other stringed instruments will
be able to get very ruperior instruc-
tion. It
Miss Addie L. Thornton, while on
her way to California from the state
of Indiana stopped off at Amarillo
and Hereford and was so well
pleased with the country that she
purchased eight lots in Adrain, the
new town on the Plains. She is in
Hereford today and expresses her-
self delighted with the new country.
If you are expecting to enter
Hereford College this fall you should
arrange to matriculate the very first
day. The first days of a term are
just as important as the last days. It
