workers. Apparently they will be
selling a product for which there is a
demand in an area that is growing.
He already has an office in
Weatherford and has a shipment of
treatment tanks arriving early this
week. "The only reason I ‘m in town
today is that tomorrow is Judy’s
birthday." said Jerald Friday.
"I’m exci ted but I’m scared to death
to leave Levelland," he concluded.
"Levelland has been awfully good to
me. We don’t know anybody down
there and we’re leaving friends and
family here. We’re not going to sell
our home for a while. Judy’s mom
(Isabel Burnett) is in a nursing home
here so we’ll be coming back and forth
a bunch."
Regardless, they will be missed.
They are nice people!

Have you noticed the construction
work going on in the 600 block of
Austin.
The Hockley County Teachers
Credit Union has bought the office
building formerly occupied by
Boogie Webb and is having some
work done on it before moving in.
Micah Paxton is coordinating the
construction work which consists of
installing a large picture window and
moving some walls.
Russell Vest, manager of the local
credit union, is proud of the new
building and the pending move. The
credit union has been located in the
same location on Col lege Ave. for at
least 20 years, according to Vest.
The move into new quarters will
happen Wednesday and Vest expects
their office to be up and running
Thursday.
I caught him Friday just before
they left for San Antonio where they
were supposed to undergo training on
a new computer system which will be
installed in the new building.
He is excited aboutthe move from
a three office suite of about600sq. ft.
into a new office suite of over 1,700
sq. ft.
He is just as proud of the credit
union, quickly pointing out that it has
1,900members and assets of over $10
million. "Once a member, always a
member," he says of the organization.
He points out that many of the
members are retirees who have kept
their accounts active.
We congratulate the credit union
on its new quarters and look forward
to having a new neighbor just a few
doors down from the newspaper.
