“We’ve been doing this
fundraiser for the last 26
years,” Jerry Ward, chief of
Tri-Lakes VFD, said. “The
money we get here goes
towards fuel, equipment,
training ... whatever we
need to get the job done.”
Ward said that while
the department does get
money allocated from the
county, the fundraiser has
been a large part of the
department’s budget for
2-*e
many years.
“This year we need that
money to go a bit further
since we’ve picked up the
Winfield station,” Ward
said.
Ward said the event
will run from noon until
approximately 8 p.m.
He said the cake and pie
auction will take place
around 5:30 p.m.
“Mike Fields is our

auction. Ward said there
will also be hot dogs, chili

“For $7 you can have
all the chili you want, tea
for several years.”
Ward said the event is
truly a community affair.
“The ladies out in
our community are who
bakes our cakes and pies
for us,” Ward said. “This
year we even have several
volunteers from the
Winfield community that
are helping.”
Ward said the
department has also
invited a helicopter to the
station.
Catholic Church, MPHS
football team and MPHS
cheerleading squad packed
the bags.
