started spiking last month in
local neighborhoods south
of Dellwood Park, police
reports show.
This area was quickly put
under surveillance with
undercover officers looking
for suspicious vehicles
and people late at night,
according to Mount Pleasant
Police Chief Wayne Isbell.
Last week, he said, a
break in the investigation
occurred when two juvenile
subjects were detained
by officers after a person
reported seeing them acting
suspicious.
Three additional suspects
who had been with the
juveniles fled on foot from
officers, according to the
press release.
“Officers and detectives
quickly focused on the
subjects detained and those
who ran, linking them and
their activity to vehicle
burglaries,” Isbell stated in a
press release.
Evidence obtained led
detectives to a residence
located in the 400 block
of Capers Street where a
search warrant was executed
Wednesday evening, he
said. Evidence recovered at
this residence was related to
many of the reported vehicle
burglaries.
Juvenile suspects were
located at residences in the
400 block of Capers and
1100 block of Earnest Street
and placed under arrest,
according to MPPD reports.
Due to the number
of offenses and related
evidence, three of the
juvenile suspects were
charged with theft of
firearms, a third-degree

“You could draw up a

Simpson noted there is
a place for government to
decide disputes concerning
child custody, inheritance
and other issues. “But they
don’t have to issue a taxed
marriage license,” he said.
He believes the issue
is important enough to
warrant a special session.
“I do think its critical,”
he said. The Rusk County
Clerk had to choose between

the governor s office “did not
reject it out of hand” but has
taken no action thus far. He
said that there is growing
support for his proposal,
both in East Texas and in the
Metroplex, and among grass
roots groups.
“My concern is about
our states response,” he
said, to the Supreme Court
ruling legalizing marriage
among same-sex couples.
“The Constitution prohibits
new spending without an
appropriation.” The state is
proceeding to pay same-sex
partner benefits, he said.
“That is clearly not in the
appropriation we made,”
he said. There needs to
be a public vote, or the
Legislative Budget Board
needs to meet.”
