Livestock thefts investigated
Sheriff's deputies are investigating the theft of a 600-pound steer
that was taken from a residence northwest of Hereford and the theft
of three pigs that were stolen from a residence southeast of town dur-
ing the weekend.
Deputies made one arrest for driving while intoxicated and one for
public intoxication. Deputies also responded to a report from an in-
dividual who loaned his car to a person who got the car stuck in a bar
ditch then could not find the car
Gramm to visit Sunday
U.S. Sen. Phil Gramm has called an informal regional town
meeting for Sunday, Oct. 27, in Amarillo.
The meeting will be at 5:45 p.m. in the second floor conference

Police arrest five
City police made five arrests during the weekend, three for public in-
toxication and two for driving while intoxicated. Police also respond-

Settlement tentatively approved
Tentative approval of a settlement has been granted by the U.S.
District Court's Amarillo Division concerning a class action suit
alleging labor violations by Barrett Fisher Company in Hereford in
1980

liability or violations alleged by plaintiffs, represented by the Texas
Rural Legal Aid.
The agreement calls for the defendant to pay *500 per the 13 per-
