recently decided _
Supreme Court of fee United States.
The judges in that oase held the
le tobe valid, and tbe
today wee in the interest of
holders. They are represen toa or
R. K. Dow, Watson Matthews and
Charles Doran, of New York Oily,
trustees. They are large capitalists,
Dow being a well known operator in
railroad securities, aud aloran ft
banker. Mr. Gonld owned ft major-
ity of the stook of this company, and
this sale relieves him of that proper-
ty. He is, therefore, according to re-
porte, a loser in the operation to tbe
amount of $850,000, the amount he
put into the stook first and last
The report is that the line will be
an independent one, and will speedily
be extended to somé point in Texas,
also to Kansas Oity, and will be oper
ated in connection with the Louisville
and Nashville railroad oompany and
tbe Riobmond Torminal company.
Tbe fact that the property did not go
to Gould ban reeulted in making the
Little Rook boom stronger than ever.
Tbe Frisoo interests, as well as those
of the Cotton Belt, are served best by
the trade as made, bnt it also be
speaks the speedy building of the
Bald Knob branch of the Iron Moun-
tain to Memphis.
"To some point in Texas" - means
Sherman, and the people of Sherman
can rest assured that while they were
not dreaming bf it, they were being
repreeented atLittlo Rook by tboee
who bad the interests of this oity ftt
heart, and who did all they ooold^or
her. All it wUl take to have this oat
let from Sherman is a willingness
on the part of all Sherman
to follow the leftdersbip of those
who have banded together
and are determined to pull toward
the single aim, that of building up
our common oity.
RUMOHSD CHINOS.
It is rumored that tbe bob-tailei
passenger train between Sbermftn
and Paris will soon be ran on through
to Whisesboro. While this will of
course take away from Sherman tho
terminal facilities, bat this loss wil'
be made ap in the fact that it is done
for the benefit of Sherman's trade.
Tbe train from Henrietta will arrive
at Wbiteaboro in tbe afternoon in
time to let tbe merchants and other
purchasers from that section come
over to Sherman and arrive about 8(
minutes earlier than at Denison, au(
in a round trip allow them to save
fifty cents railroad, fere in addition to
the privilege of being in a much
better town equally as long. Tbe
Rxqiotkb has, from the first
oontonded that Sherman woold reap
the benefit! of the Gainesville, Hen
rietta and Weetern extension, and it
is about to realize its predictions.
