towns and cities between Mount
Pleaszt and Lerado met here
today and perfected a permanen*
organization of the proposed
branch of the Bankhead nation-
al highway to extend from Mt.
Pleasant to Mexico City.
Sam R. Green of Pittsburg
was elected president and A* L.
Burge of East Texas Chamber
of Commerce secretary of the
new organization, whoch adopt-
ed the Texas-Mexico Branch of
the Bankhead National Highway
as the official name of the new
highway. Several officials of
the Bankhead National Highway
Association attended the meet-
ing.
The proposed route of the new
or southern branch will extend
from Mount Pleasant through
Pittsburg, Gilmer, Tyler, Athens
Kerens Corsicana, Waco, Temple
Austin San Antonio and Laredo,
with Mexico City as its objective
Another meeting of the pro-
moters of the new route will be
held in Corsicana at an early
date to further perfect the plans
of the new organization. A
banquet was tendered the dele-
gates here tonight at the Clay-
ton Hotel by the Pittsburg
Chamber of Commerce.
