The Gilmer News started
here with a flourish and a
voice that roared in the street
a year ago, faded to, a whisper,
and has finally died out.
So far as the Mirror was
concerned it never existed, for
in all the time it was here the
Mirror never mentioned it in
its columns, not caring to give
it that much advertising, hence
the head lines, “Hail! and
Farewell”.
. In an obscure corner at the
bottom of a column it makes
the announcement that with,
the issue of Thursday it sus-
pends publication. No reason is
given, but this was unneces-
sary.
--It is perfectly patent that a
town the size of Gilmer -could
not support two weekly papers
and a daily.
Newspapers are not made
over nighty Like any other suc-
cessful business, your news-
liapers of today requires capi-
tal, heavy investments, men
with years of experience ' in
that work at the helm. In
addition it requires unbiased,
accurate, complete news report-
