It is likely the House will
attempt to modify the Dean
Law, during the special session,
to permit transportation and
treasury. As it is now, liquor
manufacture or sale in this
state. It would tax everyone
buying, and bring a big reve-
nue to the depleted state
treasury. As it ‘s now, liquor
is said to be imported in whole-
sale quantities from Louisiana
and is readily obtainable in
most sections of the state. In
the nearby oil field towns six
per centbeer is sold now the
same as three-two and quite
likely hard liquors can be as
easily bought. It is hard to con-

Mr. Tommie Mitchell an-
nounced Monday that he would
seek office as County Clerk,
subject to the action of the
Democratic Primary.
Mr. Mitchell, who was born
in Gilmer, and graduated from
the local schools, is too well
known to require any introduc-
tion to most of the voters of
the county. After graduating
from high school, he attended
business college at Dallas and
then Texas A. and M. College.
Since 1926 he has been em-
ployed with his father at the
T. C. Mitchell gin, where he
had an opportunity to acquire
the friendship of thousands of
farmers of the county.
This is his first venture in
the political arena but he
promises if elected to serve the
public faithfully and efficient-
