Trying to find something new and different to cook for dinner is
not always easy, so Cindy Monaco often browses through the cook-
ing page of the Allen American looking for interesting recipes.
She is also somewhat a collector of cookbooks having been given
several from her mother-in-law and purchasing some from groups
such as the one recently sold by the homemaking group at Allen
High School.
Of course Cindy has her favorites such as the ones listed below.
Trying to please the family of four that includes Scott, 8, Melanie,
16 months, and her husband Ron can be trying at times but they
are always willing to try something new.
Cindy is a full-time housewife, but she still finds time to help out
with her son’s soccer team that her husband coaches.
Cindy is also an avid crocheter and was recently asked to be
responsible for the Christmas party for her son’s class. Cindy
crocheted stockings with panda bears as party favors.
With a 16-month old at home, Cindy has no plans to work out-
side the home at this time, but she is considering joining the work
force when her daughter is older.
Cindy shares a few of her favorite and often requested recipes.

A sewing machine is an in-
vestment that can pay off in
reduced clothing costs, increas-
ed satisfaction with what you
sew, or even new sewing skills.
But you only get the pay off if
you select a machine that has
the features you need and is
durable and dependable, says
Carrie T. Brazeal, Collin County
Extension Home Economist.
The American Home Sewing
Association suggests that step
one in selecting a machine is to
know the type of service you
can expect from both the
manufacturer and the dealer.
Among other things, you will
want to know whether the
dealer is a factory authroized
representative, the length of the
warranty period and any condi-
tions associated with the war-
ranty.
Step two is to look for
