When the rains wash the slippery
clay down the hillsides onto the
city streets or country roads, your
truck will get traction on Goodyear
All-Weather Tread Solid Tires.
The high, broad tread of these big,
strong tires gets a firm hold and
hangs on.
Goodyear All-Weather Tread Solid
Tires are resilient, too—springier
than many so-called cushion tires.
And they last a long, long time.
When their thick, tough tread even-
tually is worn down, they can be re-
grooved quickly at a negligible cost.
Goodyear Service goes with them.

ATTORNEY GENERAL
RULES ON STATUS
OF DALLAS OFFICES
I
By Associated Press.
KASSFL., Germany, June 6.—Philip
Scheidemann, German socialist leader
and former secretary for foreign af-
fairs, who was attacked by a youth
yesterday while on a holiday near Wi-
helmshohe, had fully recovered today.
His assailant employed prussic acid,
and the escape of the socialist leader
from death is attributed to the fact
that the acid, which is highly volatile, I
was discharged at long rang* and in I
th* open nir, thereby making it par-
tially ineffective.

The office of criminal district attor-
ney of Dallas county is a district office
within the meaning of the primary
election law, held the- attorney gen-
eral's department in an opinion writ-
ten by Assistant Attorney General L.
G. Sutton to Maury Hughes, district
attorney of Dallas county.
"Therefore,” the opinion stated, "the
nomination of a candidate in the gen-
eral Democratic primary election for
the office of criminal district attorney
of Dallas county must be by a ma-
jority vote and the county executive
committee has no authority to decide
otherwise.”
The department also holds that the
district judge in a judicial district
composed of one county is a district
officer within the meaning of the ma-
jority nomination statute, but that the
district clerk is a county officer in the
purview of such statute.

An examination of officers ot the
Texas National Guard is under way in
the adjutant general’s department be-
fore an examining board, and is ex-
pected to be continued for the next
two or three weeks. While there are
over 200 officers to be examined as to
their qualifications, the bulk of the
examinations are to be conducted by
mail. Those National Guard officers
residing in this vicinity will come to
Austin personally to take the exam-
ination. While those residing in distant
portions of the state will take the ex-
amination through the malls.
The examining board is composed of
Colonel William S. Faulkner. U. S. A,
Major William L. Culberson, U. S. A .
regular instructors of the Texas Na-
tional Guard; Captain S. A. Woolsey,

Wednesday, will never forget the generous
and liberal offers we are making in co-
operation with the factory. But remem-

extended beyond that time. So come now.
See the remarkable improvements em-
bodied in this new and finer gas range.
See how the Universay Safety Gas Econ-
omizer gives 30% greater maximum oven
heat and 33 1-3% lower minimum oven
heat, at the same time maintaining per-
fect combustion. Saves 20% of cooking
gas. See how the new-type Universal Mer-
cury Thermometer, which is inset in front,
registers oven heat to fraction of a de-
gree. See why the bright oven lining can
be guaranteed rust proof. And how the
beautiful exterior of this new range is
made with flush doors and square corners;
no bolts or unsightly projections to mar
appearance. You'll agree that this is the
gas range at its highest perfection. Como

June 15-16, according to the commis-

bankers, he said, have advised him
that they will attend the conference.
The conference. Commissioner Hall
stated, is not for the purpose of organ-
izing a separate state association, but
he insists that the state bank section
of the association should be "allottei
ample time in which to consider all
business of interest to the state bank

Calling of this conference was in-
spired by the action of the association
at the recent meeting held at Fort
Worth in limiting the state bank sec-
tion of the association to only a few
hours in which to discuss "important
problems confronting the state bank-
ers at this time," said Commissioner
Hall.
Governor Neff has accepted an invi-

his subject will be "Forward Looking
of Constructive Future.” Thomas B.
