We can tell you the exact amount you’ll need to
invest in an All Savers’ Certificate to earn the
maximum tax-free interest you desire. For ex-
ample, you’ll need to invest (based on October 1
rates) $7,930 to earn $1,000 in a year with an All
Savers’ Certificate, or $15,860 to earn $2,000.

to $1,000 In tax-free interest per individual (up
to $2,000 if you file a joint return) when you in-
vest In an Allen State Bank All Savers’ Cer-
tificate.
As you see, an All Savers’ Certificate can yield a
higher after-tax return than a Money Market Cer-
tificate. So it’s important to note that you may
convert an existing Allen State Bank Money
Market Certificate into an All Savers’ Certificate
with no penalty for early withdrawal.

Based on October 1 rates, an Allen State Bank
All Savers’ Certificate will pay 12.6% per an-
num, tax-free. To have this much after taxes
with other investments, you’d need to earn
18.01% if you’re in the 30% bracket, 21.02% if
in the 40% bracket and 25.22% if in the 50%
bracket.
Minimum deposit is $500. Tax exemption is lost
if account is closed before the end of a year,
and there is substantial penalty for early
withdrawal.

The interest on these certificates will be the
maximum allowed by law for any financial in-
stitution. It will be fixed for a one-year term at
approximately 70% of the most recent rate set
on one-year U.S. Treasury Bills.
