Due to Increasing costs of op-
erating the Soil Testing Labor-
atory at College Station, soil
test fees will increase to $2.00
per sample effective September
1. County Agricultural Agent
Charles E Murphey said he re-
ceived the information on the in-
crease today from Director
John E. Hutchtoon. Texas Agri-
cultural Extension Service.
The increased costs for labor
and chemicals used in operating
the laboratory wete listed as
primary cause for the rate in-
crease. Even though soil tests
will cost $2.00 beginning Sep-
tember 1, Murphey pointed out
that money spent for a soil an-
alysis is still the cheapest and
most convenient method for de-
termining fertilizer need, and as
a guide for in vest nig more pro-
fitably in a lime and/or fertil-
izer program, states Charles E.
Murphey, County Agricultural
agent.
