In Austin Saturday
Mr. and Mrs. T. A Maddox
were in Austin Saturday and
Sunday, accompanied by their
son, Billy, and Adrian Kutra
and Raymond Schreiner. They
attended the Texas-Arkansas
game on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs.
Maddox went to a buffet sup-
per for parents of pledges of
the Phi Kappa Pi. Their son,
Wayne Schavrda, to a member

Organizes
The Student Council had Its
first meeting September 22. The
purpose of this meeting was to
elect officers who are: presi-
dent. Harvey Stuessel; vice
president. Richard Snitkin; sec-
retary-treasurer, Patsy Vykou-
kal; reporter, Virginia Schroe-
der; and sergeant-at arms.
James Lee Wenzel.
It was than discussed what
the Student Council would do
with the money coming from
the Harvest Festival, most of
which will go toward the new
tennis courts.

ere will address the closing ses-
sion of the 34th annual meeting
of the South Texas Chamber of
Commerce Monday, October 24,
In Houston.
The 3-time governor of Texas
will speak on “Fiscal Responsi-
bility, In and Out of Govern-
ment” at a dinner scheduled
for 7:00 p.m. in the Crystal
Ballroom of the Rice Hotel.
All speakers will be address-
ing general sessions slated
throughout the day in the Trin-
ity Room of the Rice Hotel

meeting Is “Building Better Bus-
iness Climate for South Texas.”

Wednesday, October 12, at 2:30
p.m. Mrs. Robert Zapalac was
honored with a stork shower at
Firemen's Park, where 30 or
more guests assembled. Many
others were unable to be pres-
ent. but sent gifts to add to
those brought by the guests.
A centerpiece was formed
with the use of a small bassi-
net and miniature doll baby,
umbrellas and Mork Cake,
punch, sandwiches and potato
chips were served .
