Senator Connally was granted leave
of absence for today on account of
important business on motion of Sen-
ator Schwartz.
Bill and Resolution Signed
The President signed in the pres-
ence of the Senate after the captions
had been read, the following enrolled
bill and resolution:
S. C. R. No. 10, Memorial Resolu-
tion for Mrs. Jordena Starkey Dun-
can.
H. B. No. 1, A bill to be entitled
"An Act making supplemental ap-
propriations, reappropriating unex-
pended balances, and authorizing the
transfer of funds, and declaring an
emergency."
Signed, subject to the provisions of
Section 49a, Article III of the Consti-
tution of the State of Texas.

The President Pro Tempore signed

wishes to The Honorable Jake Tirey
on his retirement as Associate Jus-
tice of the Court of Civil Appeals
for the 10th Supreme Judicial Dis-
trict of Texas at Waco.
Senate Resolution 45
Senator Blanchard offered the fol-
lowing resolution:
Whereas, We are honored today to
have as a visitor in the Senate, Mr.
Nelson Sardelli; and
Whereas, We desire to welcome
this talented and distinguished vis-
itor to the Capitol Building and to
the Senate; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate of Texas,
That it does hereby welcome Mr. Sar-
delli and extend to him the priv-
ileges of the floor today.
The resolution was read and was
adopted.
The President Pro Tempore rec-
ognized Senator Blanchard who es-
corted Mr. Sardelli to the President's
Rostrum.Mr. Sardelli addressed the Senate,
expressing his appreciation for the
privilege of being a guest of the Sen-
ate and for the warmth of the welcome
extended to him.
Senate Resolution 46
Senator Strong offered the follow-
ing resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate
of the State of Texas, 61st Legislative
Sessions, That the first sentence in
Rule 91 of the Permanent Rules of the
Texas Senate, 61st Legislature, be
deleted and the following be substi-
tuted therefor:
"Persons hereinafter named and
no others shall be admitted to the
Senate Chamber while the Senate is
in session; provided that persons
other than members of a Senator's
family, members of the House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of Texas,
and Pages and Sergeants-at-Arms of
the Senate, shall be required to re-
main behind the brass rail."
The resolution was read.
