cause for this entertainment is in-
tended is a very popular one and
will doubtless call forth a most lib-
eral response. Further announce
ments of the affair will be publish-
ed. Another cause which the pa-
triotic members of the Public
School faculty have taken up is
that of raising a subscription to aid
the Daughters of the Bepublic of
Texas in purchasing the ground
adjoining the old Alamo mission
in San Antonio. In this also the
teachers have undertaken a noble
work and one in which every Texan
with any patriotism whatever in
him must feel a deep interest. A
move will be set on foot to receive
subscriptions for this fund and it
is hoped that our citizens may
heartily second the noble efforts of
the Public School teachers in its
behalf.
Brownsville is sadly in need of
some attractive and comfortable
dwellings torrent. One of the things
which strangers have to contend
with on coming here is finding
suitable houses. Those citizens who
own vacant lots or lots with old
tumble-down houses on them
should invest some of their spare
capital in the erection of neat and
attractivedwellings. Such improve-
ments would be a drawing card for
the town
A delightful time was enjoyed by
the children of the Episcopal gun-
day school Saturday afternoon
when they were entertained at a
lawn festival given by the rector
Rev. John Beean at the rectoiy.
Mr. Beean was assisted by the
Sunday school teachers in enter-
taining his juvenile guests. Games
of various kinds were played and
refreshments comprising ice cream

severe case of Bronchitis and for a
year tried everything I heard of
but got no relief. One bottle of Dr.
King's New Discovery then cured
me absolutely." It's infallible for
