The Cardinals will not be here until
Thursday, ■ playing that afternoon and
Briday. The date which . had been
made with Monroe for Thursday and
Friday has been cancelled. While the
fans would have liked.to see both sets
of games the great attraction is, of
course, the St. Louis National league
team with the great Carger’in the
box for the first game.
In one way tho delay has its ad-
vantages. There has been a great de-
brand from surrounding towns for ex-
cursions to Austin on the days when
the Cardinals are here. The time for
arranging and advertising such special
trips was too short to permit excur-
sions for today and tomorrow, but the
management of the Austin team hopes
to have the excursions arranged for
Thursday and Friday.

Paris, March 23.—A trial of a man
named Rousseau and two others, who
were arrested here last March on the
charge of having in their possession
and attempting to negotiate various
checks and bonds which had been
stolen from mall bags aboard' the
steamships La Savoire, La Touraine

that a most skillful gang of robbers has
been systematically plundering Incom-
ing trans-Atlantic and other malls. Thie
defendants set up the claim that they
received the papers in question in the
ordinary way of business and did not
know they were stolen. The police,
however, have been unable to appre-
hend the real names of the robbers..
