Only eight Denton County farm-
ers will be able to participate in
the 1360 Conservation Reserve pro-
gram of the soil bank unless ad-
ditional funds are received.
That wm the figure released to-
day by the Denton County office
of the Agricultural Stabilization
Conservation program, which ad-
ministers the soil bank project.
Forty-one farm operators had ap-
plied for participation in the pro-
gram. The reserve pays farmers
for taking land out of crop produc-
tion on contracts of three, five and
10 years.
Shirley Tayler, office manager
said there was a possibility that
other growers would be permitted
to participate in the program. But
their participation will be based
on whether or not any of the
accepted eight applicants refuse
to sign contracts and whether or

child under each arm, Mattie Lee
Stevenson, 29, kicked off her shoes
Wednesday night and climbed the
railing of the San Francisco-Oak-
land Bridge. Two motorists
Stopped and grabbed her before
she could jump into San Francisco
Bay.
Mrs. Stevenson was carrying
her daughter Doll, 14 months, and
son Sylvester, 3. She and her
husband Jessie, a civilian employe
at the Alameda Naval Air Station,
have two other children.
She told police she had been
having trpuble with her husband’s
family. She wm taken to Highland
Hospital here for observation.
