A fight between two Mexicans
named Guadalupe Cervantes and
Cecilio Abrego occurred last night
about half past eight at the Three
Bridges" just beyond the public
school in which Cervantes receiv
ed a cut on the arm. "Both were
arrested and are now in jail await
ing examination.
The new home of Mrs. A. V.
Kenedy on Elizabeth street has
been finally completed and Mrs.
Kenedy and family expect to move
in as soon as the furniture which
they have ordered is received. It
is a handsome two story residence
of attractive design being quite
Up-to-date in its interior arrange-
ment and decorations and makes
a very effective improvement to
that cart of the city. One of
Brownsville's needs is more pretty
modern and convenient residences.

press orders have been received
by Brig. Gen. McCaskey com-
mander of the Department of Tex-

Major Penrose though not yet
given out for publication. It is
announced however that the trial
will be held at Fort Sam Houston
probably during the first week of
January. It is hoped that some
of Brownsville's citizens who are
fully cognizant of all the facts may
attend the trial and be permitted
to tell what they know.

Miss Hughie Florence is ex

where she is attending school to
spend Christmas with her parents.
She will be accompanied by her
friend Miss Itasca Hill daughter
of State Senator Hill of Ballinger
Texas.
Mrs. D. G. Henstis. having re
ceived news of the serious illness
of her mother at her former home
in Illinois left this morning to
attend tlie bedside of her aged
parent. Her niece Miss Motter
accompanied her. It is hoped
that she may find her mother im
proved by the time she reaches
home.
A. B. Cole Esq. left today for
his old home at Jeffersonville Tex
as to spend the holidays with his
parents. Mr. Cole has been lend-
ing his aid on both the . local and
the editorial columns of TheHer-
ai.d for some weeks past" and his
facile faber will be missed. This
is his first visit home since he
came to Brownsville about three j
years ago.
