iting was a regular pilgrimage from earliest child-
hood. Now. of course, my dearly-beloved grandpar-
ents. Patton and Irene Ingle, are also laid to rest
there. As a result, seeing the cemetery again (even if
only in photographs) brought to me both a wistful
sadness and. in a strange w ay. a sense of comfort and
home. I've been a long time gone from Texas - I
now sene as an Anglican priest in South Wales -
but, in the end. home is still home, and I still long for
the day I can come and attend the graves in person.
My son. Eli. in his turn. has. for as long as he can
remember, declared his sadness that he never got to
meet his Grandpa Bill. For him. the view of the
cemetery and the location of his ancestors' graves
finally gave Eli a little something concrete to which
he could attach his keen sense of our family story.
He. too. wants to see the place in person - sooner,
rather than later. I aim to honour that request as soon
as it's feasible.
Speaking as one so far away, and unable to do the
kind of day-to-day maintenance of our family graves
that many people do. I am grateful to know about the
restoration project, and that someone is caring
actively for the sacred space where we lay our dead
to rest. I f there is anything I can do to support the
effort, please know I'll be happy to do so.
Every blessing to you and yours.
William Ingle-Gillis Rector (Acting).
