Austin Texas Nov. 24. The
Republic of Mexico has granted
extradition of Alberto Cabrera
from Mexico to the United States.
Cabrera is charged with the mur
der of Judge Stanley Welch at-Rio
Grande Citv. Starr county the
election last November. The pa
ners were received today from the
department of state at Washington
D. C having been sent there from
the City of Mexicowhere the .hear
ing: was held aud where Cabrera
was under arrest.
The heatjaug in Mexico revealed
some of the evidence against Ca
brera. It was thought for a long
time that the assassin or judge
Welch would never be discovered.
At the hearing it was developed
that there were two eye-witnesses
A man and his wife were passing
the small brick house used by
Judge Welch and the court officials
while court was in session in Stan-
county. They saw a man fire a
shot into the building but never
said anything about it for a long
time. Thev finally told of what
they saw and identified Cabrera
Judge Welch had gone to Rio
Grande City a few days before the
election last November to hold
court. The contest was very bitter
between the Democrats and Re
publicans and many armed guards
were to guard the courthouse on
election day. Judge Welch -ap
oointed a number to serve which
intensified the political feeling
During" the night someone fired
throueh the window of the build
ing in which Judge Welch slept
John I. Kleiber district attorney
slept in the adjoining room but
did not bear the shot. The body
was not discovered until the next
morning. Cabrera contested the
extradition for one reason among
manv others that the offense
chareed was of a political nature
and was not extraditable. Igno
Mariscal the first district judge
of Mexico in his decision says
the case is an extraditable one
The trial of Cabrera will probably
be held at Rio Grande City.
Let Him Snore If He Wants to.
There must be very thin parti
tions in the lodging house where
Brother Baura of the Corpus Chris
ti Caller puts up judging by the
following bit of logical deduction
in a recent number of the Caller:
Man is the only animal that sleeps.
oa its back and people who sleep-i
on their backs invariably snore.
A snorer is an intolerable nuisance
to everyone except the snorer. An
animal never snores. Hence to
avoid snoring quit sleeping on
your back sleep on your side.
Brownsville Herald.
Some physicians could give you
reasons tor not sleeping on your
side. Sleeping on the back is the
natural position for the evoluted
human animal. It is not for oth
er animals. Now a cow would
look very funny with her heels in
the air trying to sleep on her back
wouldn't she and it is. doubtful if
she would find it comfortable? Why-
should man imitate the other an-
imals? Why shouldn't he be allow-
ed his own special habits? Gal-

We Must Have Air Warships.
If the United States is to remain
in the first rank of world" powers
we must have a fleet of war air
ships. The United States is miles
behind the other countries in the
matter of aerial warfare inventions.
France and England have huge
fighters of the air that have proved
their worth after many tests but
not the United States.
In future years beyond doubt
of November as a rule is the day wars will be partly conducted in

governors of mast states in their wants to hold her place among ihe
supplemental proclamations abide powers must be able to make a

great airships soaring out of ranee-

The only way to fight aerial war
craft is to build similar craft.
We have had a cheerful way in
some matters of waiting 'for for
eign countries to do things and
then trailing along. What we
must have is a corps of worships
in the air as well as on the sea.
