Coach Lewis Keith’s Kermit
Junior High eagers closed with a
rush Wednesday evening to win
a thrilling contest from Pecos at
the local gym 32-24.
The visitors led 17-15 at the end
of three quarters, but the Kermit
club scored at will in the final
stanza to gain its victory.
The Kermit Juniors will play at
Wink Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Loop Leadership
Winning three out of four points
from the 20-30 Club, The Men’s
Store bowling team retained the
lead in the National League this
week.
Newell and Benefield topped the
loop leaders with 547 and 540
series, respectively, and Underwood
topped the 20-30 club with 463.
Second-place Jones & Laughlin
took three of four points from the
Fire Department as H. Parker and
L. White rolled 525 and 524, re-
spectively.
McMurry Motor won two games
and three points from The Hut
Cafe. C. Albright led McMurry with
a 534 and R. Gerdis topped the
Hut with 518.
Meek Motor Co. and Sid Richard-
son games were postponed .until

Percy Shands spoke to the Ker-
mit High School occupations class
Thursday afternoon concerning
job opportunities in the oil in-
dustry. Shands traced the devel-
opment of an oil field from the
original leasing of property to the
start of production.

Wink Football Banquet
Tickets Placed on Sale
Tickets have been placed on sale
for the Wink High School Foot-
ball Banquet, to be held Jan. 26,
it was announced by school offi-
cials Thursday. The banquet will
be held in the new Wink School
cafeteria.
L. A. (Dutch) Meyer, head
coach at TCU, will be the prin-
cipal speaker, and will be accom-
panied by two of his players, Mor-
ris Bailey and Lindy Berry.
Officials said they expect many
TCU alumni and ex-students to
attend the banquet. Reservations
can be made by contacting Rich-
ard Owens, Box 934, Wink, Texas.

Gridders to Play
11-Game Schedule
Lubbock, Jan. 12.—An 11-game
football schedule for Texas Tech-
nological College, including a Nov.
11 homecoming date against the
University of Tulsa, has been an-
nounced by Morley Jennings, Tech
athletic director. The slate in-
cludes five home games.
Texas Christian University re-
turns to the Tech schedule after
a short absence, replacing the 1949
date with Abilene Christian Col-
lege.
Five of the foes for Coach Dell
Morgan’s Red Raiders are in .the
Southwest Conference. Border
Conference competition and the
game against Tulsa of the Mis-
souri Valley Conference round out
the slate.

JUNIOR BEES WIN AGAIN
The Kermit Junior High B
squad basketball team won its sec-
ond straight game Wednesday
afternoon, trimming Pecos 14 to 6.
The annual Kermit High School
football banquet, given by the sen-
ior class in honor of the gridiron
squad, will be held at the new
High School cafeteria Monday at
7:30 p.m.
H. C. (Bully) Gilstrap, public
relations director for the athletic
departmeut of the University of
Texas, will be principal speaker.
Gilstrap formerly served as an as-
sistant coach to D. X. Bible and
Blair Cherry at Texas after being
head coach at Schreiner Institute.
In addition to honoring the Ker-
mit gridders, this year’s banquet
will also give recognition to all
all-district players and their
coaches.
