regular custodian will be hired for

MEETS IN O’KEEFE HOME
The Sew ‘N‘ Chatter Club met
recently in the home of Mrs. John
Baird O’Keefe. During the busi-
ness session meeting dates were
changed to the 4th Tuesday of
each month. Each meeting will
taught in the Junior High School L. B. King of Hereford, Mrs. Mary

SCOUTS MAKE TRIP
Boy Scouts of Troop 81 went to
Camp Heiny, near Silverton, last
week for a few days outsing,
camping and hiking. The last day
of the trip , they went to Lake Mc-
Clellan. The Scouts who accom-
panied Scoutmaster Paul Buchan-
an were Leon Vandergriff, Dibert
Lemley, Richard Haiduk, Wayne
Howard, Jerry Puckett, Larry De-
Fever, Jerry Kotara and Tommy
Ratliff.

CONTRIBUTES TO SCHOOL
White Deer’s new High School
building is receiving the last min-
ute touches. A new flagpole and
flag, installed on the school
ground this week, was donated, to
the school by the Doe Club, the
W Club, and the 1953 Senior
Class. These groups also donated
two satin ornamented flags for the
auditorium.
The 1953 Student Council com-
winner of the contest held in
school at the close of last year
had gained a handbook for the
students of the school. The hand-
book “Deer Trails” was named
Betty Jo Freeman, Jimmy Gray
and Sandra Rodowalt, were in-
strumental in the purchase of 17
reproductions of famous oil paint-
ings which are now hung in the
building. The purchase was made
possible through an Art Exhibit
and the sales of candy and other
confections, and through the op-
eration of a Coke machine.

FAMILIES ENTERTAINED
Employes of the Panhandle Dis-
trict of Southwestern Public Serv-
ice Company, and their families
were entertained Saturday after-
noon with a picnic held at Lake
McClellan. Games were provided
for the small fry while their eld-

shoes and played canasta and
