Dear Darby,
I read with interest Larry Harris’ letter to
you on “know everything”—so much so
that I begged extra issues from others and
sent them out to my wife, son and friend.
On library day, I wanted to research the
Roman emperor Domitian (the one who
took Christian persecution empire-wide),
so I grabbed volume D of our World Book
encyclopedia collection and tried to sit in
the library and read. The librarian said to
go ahead and check out the book and take
it to the house, so I did. Since I now had
all week with that volume; I went through
it page-by-page. I came to the entry on
“Dragonfly” and thought, “I know about
that!” Turns out I didn’t According to
World Book, a dragonfly nymph lives from
one to five years in the water, and adults
live one to five weeks, not the 24 hours
Mr. Harris states. In light of that, I now
question his other listed “facts.”
Best Regards,
Hoppy
Powledge Unit
Dear Hoppy,
I was huppin’ mad when I read your
letter, so I be-bopped my way to the library
and read the 'Dragonfly” entry in World
Book for myself. The 2018 edition says that
adult dragonflies live "Only a few weeks to
a few months.” Both of y’all were wrong.
Maybe he was talkin’ 'bout a dragonfly
flying around his cell! I know a regular fly
balanced risks can lead to a positive
reward. A good question to ask yourself is:
what are you going to do with what you
have? Because at the end of the day, it’s not
about how much you have, but about what
you do with what you have. Therefore, you
must be willing to take risks sometimes.
8. Expect failure— There is no better way to
face adversity than to be prepared for it. You
can ask yourself: how can I be prepared for
the unexpected? The truth is there’s no right
or wrong answer. All you have to know is that
failure can present itself in the form of a general
loss, accidents, delays, etc. being prepared to
face such circumstances can help you to be
more resilient and overcome hardships.
9. Help others—Look for opportunities to
help others, and to take somebody with you
on your way to success. Don’t just aspire to
make a good living; instead aspire to make
a difference in the life of others, because the
satisfaction you get from helping another
valuable human life is priceless.
10. Stay spiritually connected—Whatever
religious background you came from, find a
true spiritual connection to God. Keep God
as your number one priority in life, and
know that certain doors in life can only be
opened by divine intervention, just as well
as certain opportunities.
Remember that even while you’re
