storm.
All park facilities such as group shelters, cabins, cam-

They would be allowed to use the facilities until it was

dark he said
Aa things turned out, those few words spoken
in about three or four second saved them hours
of waiting, possible danger tram squalls that
blew up later inthe day. and countless man hours
of searching by the Coast Guard and others
They made their run across the bay and
every thing was fine until they tried to start their
engine about stindown for the rturn trip to the
dock it wouldn't start
They finally gave up on the engine, paddled a
few yards from shore to escape. hords of
mosquitoes, dropped anchor and sat down to
wait for help. That was the third thing they did
right.
One of the men's wife took the next step when
she called the Coast Guard and gave them the
correct information. Within four hours after the
search began, the Coast Guard light swept
across the fishermen’s boat and they flashed
back an answer with that same light my friend
remembered to take with him Minutes later,
they were under low and on the way back to the
dock.
So it was a story that ended well, thanks to
some planning.
The point is a simple one, but one that every
boater should remember, whether he's crossing
a bay, running the Gulf. or going out on a large
lake
That point is, always let someone know where
you plan to go and when you plan to return in
