With the hiring of a new ad-

board of directors changed the job's title
from manager to executive director.
Davenport said the change reflects a
trend occurring in Chambers of Com-

Davenport said Scott emerged as the
top choice after a series of interview
questions exploring the candidates'
attitudes about such topics as how the
Chamber should work with the com-
munity and how much direction the
Chamber should give.
Scott's "obvious interest in Alvin" was
one of the factors considered by the
committee. Davenport said
Other members of the selection"
committee were Carl Ellis, Carl Gerjes,
George Jacob and Andrews.
Scott said his first efforts as Chamber
of Commerce executive director will be
to learn about the committees’ work and
to help make sure that projects already
approved for this year are being carried
out as planned.
He said he will meet with the directors
and conduct detailed meetings with the
committee chairmen about their
projects.
