the engagement and approaching marriage at their
daughter, Staci Carol, to Bobby Glenn Andrews, son of
Bobby D. Andrews of New Caney. The wedding will take
place September 27 at the First Baptist Church in Houston.
The bride-to-be is the neice of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn W.

AFOOD
Crossing the Brazos River is one thing, but canoeing 53
miles down it is another. Scout troup 400 and 499 recently
enjoyed a seven day trip camping out in the wilderness.
These boys really enjoyed days filled with swimming and
fishing along with earning many merit badges and skill
awards.
Scout Masters J. D. McGregor and Robert Knott along
with assistant Mike Collins, really had their hands full
watching after 20 boys. The group put in at Glenrose, and
traveled down the Brazos to Steele Creek Park. I’m told
that all had a very enjoyable time.

The Ponies had a hotdog and swim party to celebrate at
Monsanto Park, Friday night Each player was presented
with a trophy along with the coaching staff Casa Barron
was named outstanding player for having only one strike
out, and at least one hit each game. Team mothers Susie
Lee and Sharon Griffin were given a gift of appreciation.
Members of the team are Cass Barron. Paul Barron, Bryan
Boman, Paul Flores, Ruben Becerra, Dalls Griffin, David
Hendrix, Grayson King, Chris Lee, Daniel Lovelace,
Sammy Martinez, Tommy Olson, and Ray Villerreal, Jr.
The coaches for the team were Ray Villerreal, Sr. Ed Olson,
M. Becerra, and manager Pete Barron.
S. Edward and Donna Crook announce the birth of a
daughter, Allison Elizabeth, born June 16 at 7:29 p.m. at
Clearlake Hospital. She weighed I Iba. and 2 a*, and
measured 21 inches.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hicks, Jr. aad Mr.
and Mrs. Fred E. Crook, all of Alvin.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Enochs of Alvin, announce the birth of a
daughter, Hope Marie, born June 12 at 3:22 a.m. in
Galveston County Memorial Hospital and weighing 7 lbs.

held their annual birthday dinner party in the community
Room of Alvin State Bank. Alvin High School graduates
were presented with corsages Those present were Cathy
Collier, Karen GOmer, Susan Goodrum, Kathy Meyer, aad
Susan Williams.
I really dislike good-byes as much as anyone, so I won’t
say good-bye, I’ll just say good luck. George Scott will be
leaving the Alvin Sun soon to assume his duties as
Executive Director of the Alvin Chamber of Commerce I
don’t think that the board could have made a better choice
George is a dedicated and hard working person, who will
really be a great asset to the city of Alvin
I’m sure he will have the full support of the community in
the efforts of making Alvin a city that we can all be proud
of.
Several Alvin students were recently accepted into
universities around the state They are Cathy Collier, ac-
cepted for entrance this fall to Trinity University in San
Antonio; Susan Goodrum accepted to Tezas University in
Austin; Kathy Meyer accepted to Stephen F Austin State
University in Nacogdoches and Susan Williams accepted to
Oklahoma State University in Okla.
