pionship last weekend at Aus-
tin, defeating the highly tout-
ed Friona Chiefs by a 76-
66 score. The game was close
until the third quarter when
the Rabbits blew it open with
29 points while holding the
Chiefs to 14 points.
The Rabbits on their first
game in the state playoffs
against Refugio defeating that
team on Friday by a 63-56
score. This game was close
all the way and Bowie fans
didn’t breath easy until the fi-
nal whistle.
PETROLIA LOSES
The Petrolia Pirates, rep-
resenting District 14-A and
this region in the state bas-
ketball battles, lost their first
game at Austin Friday morn-
ing. Snook, a traditional bas-
ketball power from East
Texas, defeated Petrolia 49
to 45. Darrie Massie made
28 points but fouled out in
the final two minutes and the
Pirates were doomed.

Four players on Indian var-
sity basketball teams made
the 14-A All District teams
which were announced last
weekend. Two are boys and
two are girls.
On the boys varsity, Tom-
my Fenoglio of Nocona was
named on the first team and
Dana Haralson was selected
on the second team. Fenoglio
was the play maker for the In-
dians while Haralson was one
of the leading scorers.
Given honorable mention on
the boys team was Danny Fitts
and Steve Fenoglio.
GIRLS TEAM
Two Indian girls made the
first team in that division.
Forward Lawana Hudson, high
scoring ace for Nocona and
Guard Donna Linn were se-
lected. Given honorable men-
tion were Diane Carminati
and Jeannie Pigg.
The first team in the boys
division included Tommy Fen-
oglio, Nocona; Darrie Mas-
sie, Petrolia; Buddy Rector,
Petrolia; Alan Powers, Sang-
er and Donnie Bar row, Friscq
The girls first team includ-
ed Lawana Hudson and Donna
Linn, Nocona; Terri Bachman,
Petrolia; Beverly Baum,
Frisco; Maurine Brown, Fris-
co; Janis Lauderback, Callis-
burg; Kathleen McInnish, Pi-
lot Point.

will travel to Bridgeport Sat-
urday of this week to parti-
cipate in an invitational affair
against both Class A and AA
teams. Coach Lee Woods
will take 14 tracksters, many
of them freshmen and soph-
omores.
