shipat East Texas State University by Dr. John Carrier, dean of the Col-
lege of Liberal and Fine Arts. Miss Doyle, a journalism and advertising
major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Doyle ofBogata and a 1980
graduate of Nocona High School.

All of the awards were com-
petitive and were signed by Dr.
Kate Bell, President of Texas
Retired Teachers, and by E.L.
Galyean, Executive Director.
Forty-four people including
regular members, visitors, and
members of Bowie’s high school
play cast were present for the
meeting.
Mrs. Gerry Russell directed the
Bowie district winning one-act
comedy play, O’Henry’s “The
Cop and the Anthem.” Kent
Oyster won the best actor’s award
at district. Members and visitors
enjoyed the presentation.
Refreshments were served to
the group during the social hour
by Mesdames Helen Lancaster,
Buna Clark, Thelma Thompson,
Merle Handcock, Roxie Dansby
and Tressie Randolph.

The American Legion Hall was
the setting for a Keck Reunion
planning committee meeting
which took place on Saturday
night, April 17th, at 6.
The affair was a quail supper
with the main course being fur-
nished by Bob and Vernell Keck.
The meeting was held to set the
wheels in motion for the annual
Keck Family Reunion which will
take place on M ay 30 at the
Nocona Community Center.
Prior to the actual reunion,
there will be a hamburger supper
at the Nocona City Park, Satur-
day, May 29, at which time the at-
tending family members will cook
the meat for the reunion meal.

Mr. and Mrs. Crownover on their
golden wedding anniversary.
The party room was very festive
decorated by numerous ar-
rangemenu of fresh and silk
flowers and by blooming and
green pot plants scattered around
the room sent to the honoured
couple by their friends and
relatives in honour of the occasion.
The refreshment table was
covered by a floor length white
lace cloth over yellow. On one end
was a three-tiered white and
yellow cake. On the other end was
a crystal punch bowl on a silver
tray. In the center was a silver and
crystal epergene holding an ar-
rangement of mums in shades of
gold, yellow and bronze. This was
flanked on either side by silver
candle sticks holding gold tapers.
Other table appointments were
crystal silver tea service.
Refreshmenu were served by
alternating relatives of the
honoured couple.
Receiving many comments by
the guests was a rememberance
table featuring pictures of the
couples family roots, their wed-
ding party, then and now pictures
and other memorable pictures.
The register table also was
covered by a white lace floor
length cloth over yellow with a
small arrangement of white and
yellow flowers M aefair Steakley a
neice of Mrs. Crownover secured
names of guests in a gold fifteeth
wedding anniversary book.
As guests left the party she gave
them a scroll of appreciation from
the couple, secured by a gold wed-
ding band, as their gift of ap-
preciation for their presence at the
memorable occassion.
Some two hundred plus guesu
registered. Many cards and
telephone calls were received by
friends and releatives from near
and far who were unable to attend
The Montague County Retired
Teachers Association received
four awards from the TSTA Con-
vention at Houston, reported
Mrs. Ruth Ragsdale, president, at
the regular meeting Tuesday,
April 13, at the Bowie National
Bank Community Center.
The Montague County Retired
Teachers’ unit received for the
third consecutive year the coveted
Banner Award, which is an
achievement award designating
the unit as outstanding in its work.
M rs. Thelma Thompson receiv-
ed an achievement award honor-
ing her as the Twentieth Century
Teacher among retirees. Mrs.
Vannie Lee Randolph received an
appreciation award in recognition
of her outstanding Volunteer Ser-
vice in the community. Mrs. Alva
Copeland received an appreciation
award in recognition of service to
