Crownovers accompanied Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest Durham and
Miss Willie Dickerman of Bowie
to Arlington for a mini-reunion of
the 1929 graduating class of Bowie
High School.
The members and spouses
gatheied in a private dining room
of the Holiday Inn where they
renewed acquaintances and at
noon were served a buffett
luncheon. After the luncheon, a
short business session was held
and then the group was invited to
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gene
Carter where a picture making
session, more visiting and eating
was enjoyed.
Members of the ’29 class of
which Mrs. Crownover was a
member, were there from Bowie,
Nocona. Sherman. Houston and
from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
In our culture she said dishones-
ty is basic. Mrs. Haralson also
talked of stress and workaholics
and how they abuse honesty and
integrity.
Mrs. Earl Wooten’s subject was
“The Sobering Eighties”. She
asked the question “Will the pro-
blems now be the same in ten
years?” She predicted there will
be many crisis and shocks in the
future.
She stated Russia thinks the
world could go through a nuclear
war and survive. She said the
social concern of the eighties is to
find acceptable places to rear
families. Education constantly
changes, she remarked. The real
challenge of the 80’s she stated,
would be a much slower ac-
complishment of government pro-
jects.
The president, Mrs. Clyde
Whiteside, presided at a brief
business meeting.
Dessert plates were served to the
following during the social hours:
Mesdames Corrine Bell, Paul
Brand, Weldon Cowan, W.H.
Fenoglio, Roy C. Fills Jr.,
Frances Flynt, C.E. Frailey,
James Haralson, Rowland Peters,
W.L. Scott, N.A. Waters Jr.,
Clyde Whiteside, Earl Wooten,
Leland Young, James McCall,
R.E. Storey, Joe Fitts, Blake
Yager, David Hudson, C.S. Mc-
Call, Miss Anita Leonard, Mrs.
Ben Shackleford (a new member),
Mrs. Martin (Nancy) Newhouse
(a visitor) and hostesses.
Sunday a group of friends
honored Rev. Jerry Mosman of
Immaculate Conception in Den-
ton from his 10th Anniversary in
the Priesthood.
A three-tiered decorated cake
for the occasion and the dinner
was enjoyed, besides the guest of
honor, by: Fr. Jerry Mosman, Fr.
Bob Breen, Fr. Al S. Arvay also of
Denton, Fr. Joe Pemberton of
Henrietta, Fr. Paul Higgin-
botham of Cleburne, Fr. Karl
Schilken of Ft. Worth, Mr. and
magic. Dorothy Gregory, home
economist in cooperation with

many children are starved for
something beautiful in their lives,
and many student loans and
scholarships have been cut back.
Mrs. James Haralson’s topic
was “Trust and Integrity." One
article she reviewed was "The
Bustin of the American Trust."
Bustin means failure, she said and
Trust is a social good, as much as
the air we breath and the water we
drink. She used lying on an in-
come tax as an example. She went
back to the early Greek
philosopher Diogenes, and
remembered he was “looking for
an honest man.”

"Focus on Federation and the
Future" was the theme of the
M aids and M atrons club that met
on April 13 at the home of Mrs.
Reuben Weeks. Mrs. Basil Gist
served as the co-hostess.
Mrs. Frances Flynt was the
leader for the program. She stress-
ed the fact of the great need for
volunteers. She pointed out that
“each one can reach out and touch
one.”
She used as an example the
Special Olympics in Wichita Falls.
She was distressed that cultural art
programs were among the first of
the government cuts. She stated
Travis Combs of Las V agas,
Nev., and his sister, Loreta
Combs Morris of Ft Worth, spent
Easter Sunday with their cousins
Jewel and Lois Reed.
Travis and Loreta are the
children of Virgil and Edna Mar
tin Combs.
