Review of the Market.
Houston. April 23.— (Specal.)—Lqui-
dation was continued on a very large
scale in the cotton market today, and
under the weight of such continuous
pressure, prices gave way, losing over
20 points before the decline was
checked by short covering and some
fresh buying rest before the close of
the sessioa. There seemed to be no
special cause for the decline other thau
the anxiety of long* to take down prof-
its before risking their complete ab-
sorptiot. There was very heavy rains
in the eastern belt and a killing frost
at Oklahoma City, but the Texas pre-
cipltation was toe light to influence the
heavy selling movement that occurred.
Liverpool came in just about as due.
but the demand was only fair and spots
sustained a loss of 3 points on sales of
8.666 bales, while futures closed un-
changed-to 1 point up.
The opening on this side was 1 point
