The number one fear of people is supposed to be speaking in
public. And yet most people will have to speak in front of a
group at some time in life.
Cleburne Toastmasters can help anyone overcome the fear—
and have fun doing it. Layland Museum invites everyone to
a brown bag luncheon on Friday, April 19, 2013, from noon
to one in the Armadillo Room, SHC, behind the Museum.
It is free.
Please call 817-645-0940 to allow us to prepare. Bring a
sack lunch and beverage.
The Museum will provide dessert.
The program will tell what Toastmasters is and how to give
a good speech.
The group welcomes anyone who is interested. The Lay-
land is pleased to have such a knowledgeable and helpful
group.
Charter member of Cleburne Toastmasters, Everett Stokes,
will give an overview of “Contents of a Good Speech.” He
will share some tips for writing and presenting a speech.
Following Stokes’ presentation, Distinguished Toastmas-
ter (DTM) Shirley McKee will give a prepared speech and
Charter Member and co-Founder of Cleburne Toastmasters,
Charlotte Gorman, will provide an evaluation, demonstrat-
ing how Toastmaster members help each other learn and im-
prove their communication and leadership skills.
The Toastmasters International Mission Statement says it all:
The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually
supportive and positive learning environment in which ev-
ery member has the opportunity to develop communication
and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence
and personal growth.
While the Mission Statement sounds serious and its intent is
serious, it should be noted that Cleburne Toastmasters mem-
bers have a lot of fun in the process.
A question and answer session will follow the prepared pro-
gram. Don’t skip this event. You never know when you
may be called upon to speak in front of an audience, and
Toastmasters have found the pathway to successful commu-
nication.
