(DALLAS, TX, March 28, 2014) - This year, 20 Baylor
Health Care System nurses from six Baylor hospitals
spanning the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex were named
to the prestigious DFW Great 100 Nurses list. The annual
list recognizes outstanding nurses for being role models in
leadership, service to the community and compassion, as
well as their significant contributions to the art and science
of nursing.
Great 100 Nurses are nominated by their peers, patients,
families, physicians and administrators. They will be
celebrated at an awards ceremony on May 14 at the Morton
H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. The DFW Great
100 Nurses Inc. is celebrating its 24th year of recognizing
nurses, and the award is highly regarded as an esteemed
honor throughout the North Texas health care community
There are more than 40,000 nurses practicing at facilities
across North Texas. The award selection committee received
over 800 nominations for this year’s award. After a rigorous

of the Golden Pride Band and the varsity cheerleading team
helped third, fourth and fifth graders at Irving Elementary get
their game faces on in preparation for the first wave of State
of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness administra-

Bruce Peil painting
The Johnson County Art Guild will meet in the JCAG art
room at JN Long Cultural Arts Complex, 425 Granbury
Street, Cleburne, Texas at 7 p.m. on April 3.
Our demo artist for April is BRUCE PEIL. He will also be
doing a workshop on April 4 and 5. Bruce was born and
raised in Oklahoma and now resides in Athens, Texas. He is
a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and the
co-founder of the Outdoor Painters Society. His paintings are
in many corporate and private collections, and he is primarily
known for his landscape paintings. Bruce said: “No matter
what the subj ect matter is, it’s that fleeting moment in time and
the particular feeling of the light that I strive most to capture
in my paintings. I want the viewer to feel as though they are
experiencing that moment in time. My goal is to capture the
truth about the subject without over embellishment of color
or too many unimportant details that can distract the eye from
the main idea. The light.”
All are welcome to attend the demo on Thursday evening,
April 3. You do not have to be a member to attend. Come
enjoy the demo, refreshments, and fellowship with the
artists.
You may also sign up to attend the workshop on Friday, April
4 and Saturday, April 5. The cost of the workshop is JCAG
MEMBERS $240 and nonmembers $275. You may work in
your preferred medium. Maximum number is 15.
For more information about the workshop or demo call
817 641 4908 or 817 308 3295 or stop by the Cultural Arts
Complex on Granbury Street.
