The flavor of honeydew melon—
sweet as honey and dawn-fresh as
lew—is one of summer’s true de-
lights.
ihis creamy-white melon with
the angelic aroma is glamour girl
Ji the melon clan, whose family
name stems from the Persian word
■‘musk” for a particularly sweet
perfume. The honeydew itself has
ceen enjoyed so long that its exact
origin is lost in the mists of time,
but historians believe the musk-
melon clan first hailed from. Asia,
where it was cultured and perfect-
ed. An early portrait of a musk-
melon was drawn by an Egyptian
artist of the 2400 B. C. period. It
made its debut in this country
about 1900, coming to us by way of
France.
The honeydew is not only a
sweetly charming flavor but it
has a winning way with other fla-
vors, particularly those of summler
fruits. Honeydew Melon and Fresh
Plum Cup, with fresh lime sauce,
is a flavor harmony that will long
oe remembered. Diced Honeydew
and Fresh Peaches are a compote-
duet to entice any appetite out of
inertia. And fresh ripe honeydew
blends wit i plain vanilla ice cream
to produce a suave new flavor sen-
sation.
It might seem unreasonable to
expect that any food as delicate
and delicious as this glamour mel-
on. could serve a practical purpose.
But honeydew does just that—it is
a staunch ally of the pound fighter
because an average-sized melon
wedge contains only 49 calories.

Among these institutions is the
University of Houston, which is the
only senior college in Texas offer-
ing a Bachelor of Business Admin-
istration degree with a major in
retailing acquired through an on-
the-job training program, during
the first two years.
Students enrolled under the plan
are placed in suitable retail or
wholesale training positions after
they have taken vocational tests
and have been interviewed by a
trained counselor. The on-the-job
training salary is often sufficient
for the student to pay his expenses.
The program at the University of
Houston operates very much like
the distributive education program
at Cleburne high school.
Modern retailing operations de-
mand qualified employees with a
knowledge of management, person-
nel, credit, advertising, display, fa-
shions, buying and selling. Ample
opportunities in the Houston area
for students interested in this pro-
gram are provided in these fields.
