State Property Tax Board is
available from the city office
or the school tax office and-
it’s free!
Written in laymen’s lang-
uage, it attempts to explain
in easy terms the Texas
Property Tax System as it
applies to counties, cities and
school districts.
Below is a listing of a tax

you in taking care of your tax
business.

termined.

tions open-space land valua-
tion are due. This is also the
last day to render your
property to the tax assessor.
(The deadline of April 1 or

the board of equalization to
hear reasons why taxpayers
think the values assigned to

The apparent increases are
partly offset by the fact that
during the first quarter of
1979 city sales tax allocations
were down due to late filings
and a backlog of 2,400
returns in the agency’s ac-
counting system, Bullock
said.
System improvements
have eliminated the backlog
and strengthened the
agency’s ability to quickly
handle returns and put more
money into the system for
rebates, he said.
Bullock said 1980 rebate
payments to cities from the
first of the year total $137.7
million, compared to 1979
payments of $100 million
over the same period, an
increase of about 38 percent.
He said 924 Texas cities will
share $78.6 million in sales
tax rebates during March,
compared to $56.6 million in
March last year. Groom’s
share of the rebate for this
period was $3,995.31. Pan-
handle received $5,579.02
and White Deer $1,955.15.
