A Harvest Dinner was held
Sunday at St. - Mary’s Hall
and sponsored by Groom’s
United Methodist Church.
The 200 who attended the
dinner were served turkey
and all the trimmings pre-
pared by the ladies of the
church.
The Junior MYF also spon-
sored a raffle of Christmas
decorations. Winners were
Mrs. Max Wade, a small
decorated tree and Mrs. Jack
Barnett and Fred Brown
received wreaths.
The weather Sunday was
spring like adding to the
success of the day. All funds
from the dinner were added
to the church’s fund.
Children’s Program
Youth of the First Baptist
Church have been rehearsing
a special children’s Christ-
mas program for the past
several weeks. The musical
“Mary Had A Little Lamb”

Systems, Inc. said his com-
pany makes 22c a container
per month in Groom for a
three cent profit. He went on
to say his company ser-
vices 143 containers in
Groom which requires 14
hours per week to service
and two trips to Amarillo
with Groom’s trash. He
figures BFI needs $34.14 per
hour, a container cost of
$225.00 each, and $25.30 a
load to dump. The total
figures add up to a total cost
of $17.87 per container for
his customers. He said this is
the minimum his company
needs to stay in operation.

at the meeting but is expect-

Teaching Position
Judy Babcock, home eco-
nomics teacher at Groom
Schools has announced her
plans to leave Groom at the
end of the semester to join
husband Bobby in McAllen,
Texas.
Mrs. Babcock has taught
seven years for Groom
Schools and will be missed
by her students and
co-workers.
She began teaching
