befell Miss Bennett during the

picture, she carries on in a tradi-

are very complimentary.. The. others
playing in the picture are Spencer

The story of the picture con-
cerns a girl who wanted a million-

to Paris, Atlantic City and other

shows a beauty parade in action
and this features many of Amer-

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
The lesson-sermon subject was
“Mind” in all Churches of Christ,
Scientist, Sunday.
“God hath not given us the
spirit of fear; but of power and
love, and of a sound mind,” was
the golden text, from II Timothy
1:7.
Included in the service were the
following passages from the scrip-
tures: “Thou shalt have no other
gods before me”—Exodus 20:3. “Let
this mind be in you, which was
also in Christ Jesus.”—Philippians
2:5.
Citations read from the Christian
Science Textbook, “Science and
Health with Key to the Scriptures”
by Mary Baker Eddy, embraces the
following:
“It should be thoroughly under-
stood that all men have one mind,
one God and Father, one life,
truth, and love. Having no other
gods, turning to no other but the
one perfect mind to guide him,
man is the likeness of God, pure
and eternal, having that mind
which was also in Christ.”
was unconstitutional and. would
not have given the relief I think
the taxpayers are entitled to re-
ceive. This tremendous expense is
the great burden under which the
taxpayers are laboring. The tax
rate , in many counties, because of
bond issues for road purposes ,is
$1.50 on the $100 valuation. It is
obvious that the citizens of this
state and nation must have re-
lief from the ever increasing tax
burdens.”

Our attendance Sunday was fine,
458 in Sunday school and 168 in
BTS, with large audiences on both
preaching services.
At the morning service theis
were two additions, one for bap-
tism and one by letter. The pastor.
Rev. J. D. Grey, preached on “The
Hallelujahs of the Gospel,” first
on account of Joseph’s new tom!)
being empty; second Jesus answers
prayer; third. Jesus will return,
and fourth. Jesus saves sinners.
It was a powerful message. A mix-
ed quartet sang at this service.
At the evening hour, Bro. Murph
had led a fine song service, he
brought a special message in song,
and the pastor’s subject was "The
Sovereignty of Suffering Love.”
We had a good number of appre-
ciated visitors.

• Increased attendance and in-
i creased interest marked the work
I of the Lord’s day at the Church
of Christ. More than 2,200 chap-
ters were reported read by the ’
members of the Bible classes. One
seventh grade girl read over 400
chapters,
Brother Wooldridge brought two
splendid lessons. Everyone would
be benefited by hearing his force-
ful messages from God’s word.
Only the truth as it is in Christ
Jesus occupies his mind. The do-
lights of the Christian at the
morning hour was divided into the
things in which God delights and
those in which the Christian de-
lights God delights in the excel-
lent, obedience, just weight, up-
right in heart, prayer, loving kind-
ness, justice, righteousness*. The
Christian delights in the law of
the lord, in his commandments, in
reading and studying God’s word,
in prayer, in meeting together, in
singing God’s praises, in giving as
prospered, in missions, in visiting
the fatherless and widows in their
, affliction.
■ The advantages of the Christian
I was the subject at the evening
1 service. The Christian has the sure
