Child In Need
To The Editor:
We all know Christmas is to
celebrate the birth of Jesus
Christ.
Many of our children in Den-
ton County are in a situation
where they do not receive any-
thing, either as foster children
or in children's homes. Several
organizations within the county
are seeking means to furnish a
good Christmas for the children
in need. We can help...you can
help. They need our support.
My family is generous in giv-
ing gifts to our relatives and
friends. This year we have
elected to give no gifts to the
adults, only the children of the .
family. The adults will receive a .
nice card advising that their rou-
• tine gift will not arrive but a
needy child will receive Christ-
mas gifts in his/her name. I am
also asking that they refrain ‘
from sending our family items,
except for the children, and lo-
cate a home in their area to sup-
port children that are in need’
Too many times we receive a
gift that we do not need. Some-
where there is a child that is
desperately in need of this rec-
ognition and support. I urge
other families take this lead and ‛
celebrate their Christmas with
a prayer but give the monetary
gifts to the children.
A decision should be made
prior to Thanksgiving so your
relatives will know and under-
stand what and why you are
doing this wonderful deed. It
could be contagious and we could *
possibly brighten the Christmas
for many children. Contact me
for any details you desire if you
are interested in a great pro-
gram at 1545 Chinn Road, Den-
ton, Texas 76207.

■ I pl
I just wanted to express my '
thanks to the staff and children 2
of Little Elm Intermediate /
School, fifth grade, for the great >
time I had on last week's camp- :
ing trip.
It was wonderful to get away 2
and gain a different perspective :
of teachers and students — >
where the objective of all was to >
forget the pressures of school .,
and enjoy the company of each ,
other and the beauty of nature. J
Children with rare opportu- <
nities to go camping were able 3 •
to experience the joys of horse- 3
back riding, canoeing and hik- 2
ing with their classmates and :
their teachers. It was a pleasure :

At the end of our stay, you r
could see how the children had ;
unwound. They were relaxed :
and tired. They had lived to- •
gether for three days and three ;
nights and were closer to each ’
other for it.
I'm sure in times to come, we
will all look back and reminisce
about those few precious days
we all had together at Camp
Grady Spruce.
