Village’s council
members on job
Lakewood Village now has its first mayor and City Council
members.
But the swearing-in procedure Tuesday night was different
from the way it’s usually done. Mayor R. E. (Corky) Dandridge
said members merely signed their oaths of office instead of
raising right hands and being sworn in.
Dandridge said Denton County Judge Dan Trammell said
that signing the oaths was sufficient. The group met at the
mayor’s home.
Council members are Bill Graham, Tyrus H. Kirk, Troy
. Edwards, Roland B. Felmet and Betty Chaney. Felmet was
named mayor pro-tem and Sue Allen city secretary.
The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Lake-
wood Village sales office. One item on the agenda will be
utilities franchise fees.
Members were elected Aug. 13.

Classes for the Little Elm Community Education children’s
dancing program will begin Thursday, Sept. 1, with registration
today, Aug. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Elementary School
gym. Instruction will again be Miss Joy Odell of Prosper. She
recently returned from a national dance meeting in Houston
and has many new ideas for the 1977-78 season. I know
many of you attended our spring recital and were pleased
with the progress of the children so I know you will want to
keep up with their efforts this year.
