MISS CANTU TAKES PART
IN FEDERAL PROGRAM
On May 31, Miss Teresa
Cantu, daughter of Mrs. M. C.
Cantu of Boerne, left for
Brush, Colo. She had been se-
lected last summer, while at-
tending a teachers’ workshop
in Albuquerque, N.M. to par-
ticipate in a federal program
sponsoring education for mi-
gratory workers in the Brush
area. Miss Cantu will teach in
the program for eight weeks,
through July 28, at which
time she will resume her pres-
ent job in the San Antonio In-
dependent School District as a
sixth grade teacher of. lan-
guage arts and social science
at the Ira Ogden Elementary
School.

WHITE SOX NEWS
The All-Stars, comprised of
players from the other six
teams defeated the Fredericks-
burg Cubs, 14 to 9. Fred Bar-
ron of one White Sox, the
third pitcher of the game got
credit for the win. Fred came
on in the fourth inning and
put out a Cub rally. Fred
worked the final five innings
Mrs. Nora Sauer Baker, for-
merly of Austin, is presently
visiting with her sister, Mrs.
Oran Davis. Mrs. Baker has
purchased a home on Loh-
mann street and is planning to
move there in the near future.
METHODIST VACATION
CHURCH SCHOOL
Vacation church school at
the Methodist Church will be
held from June 18 through
June 25. Sessions will be held
each morning from 9 to 11:15.
The school will close with a
sharing night for parents and
friends on Thursday, June 26

fession for Sister Mary Paul
Pechacek of Boerne, Sister
Mary John Sapp of St. Peters-
burg, Fla., Sister Mary Susan
Mika of San Antonio, Sister
Mary Edward Jones of Boerne
and Sister Mary Ursula Her-
rera, also of Boerne.
The 2 p.m. high mass (com-
posed by Sister Mary Paul for
the occasion) was concelebrat-
ed by Fr. John Quinlivan, OMI
vicar-general for religious, and
Msgr. Gus P. Staff, chaplain
to the Benedictine Sisters.

During the summer months
the Boerne Grange meets only
once each month on the third
and aided the All-Star cause.
This week the White Sox
will play three big games. On
Wednesday they play in San
Antonio at the Lions field
against Alamo Enterprises
team, and then Varsity Club
will be in Boerne for a game
on Saturday, June 13 at 3 p.m.
Admission will be 75 cents
for adults and 25 cents for
children under 12. And then
on Sunday, the White Sox will
again do battle with the Boer-
ne Eagles in a regular league
game, so plan now to see this
exciting ball club in action.
