phia, a student at the University of Pennsylvania, has stamped
himself with the embryonic class of Jim Thorpe, by winning the
pentathlon at the Penn relays. The pentathlon includes a running
broad jump, javelin throw, discuss throw, 200 meter sprint and
1500 meter run.

baseball this year is below the ordi-

in view of the general improvement in
coaching staffs during the last few
years—there are more real top notch-
era. men who stand out over their fel-
lows. this season than for quite some

of these young men are so unfortu-
nate ar to be blessed with wealthy
parents who would not leathern play
professional ball, but there is no way
to get a lino on thto in many cases.

scouts are taking their annual peeps
at the college boys and that they will
tasten theif talons on a goodly num-
ber of them along in June, when the
colege terms end.
