Chapel Speaker
Early in each semester it has been
customary for a week to be set aside
during which chapel services are held
each day in both the plant and the
school in Longview. Outstanding spea-
kers are secured for these meetings.
Students and workers at Longview
were extremely fortunate in being able
tp hear Dr. R. A. Forrest, President of
Toccoa Falls Institute, at the services
which were held at the beginning of
the fall semester.
Most readers of NOW are already
acquainted with Dr. Forrest. He has
been a friend of the LeTourneau fam-
liy for many years.
Dr. Forrest's years of experience
and study coupled with his world
wide travels and his sincere natural
ability as a speaker make him one of
the most effective speakers in the
country today. Before the week of
meetings had finished, almost every-
one who was present at the meetings
had either given his heart to Christ or
had rededicated himself to the work
of the Lord.
In the picture at the left Chaplain
Kenneth laughs with Dr. Forrest,
Mrs. LeTourneau, and Mrs. Strat-
hearn as Dr. Forrest recalls an inci-
dent which occurred early in the For-
rest-LeTourneau friendship.Now Reader
Sometime ago I received a letter
from a reader of NOW which said
something like this. "I like to read
NOW very much, and I get a great
deal of inspiration from it, but I must
ask you to stop sending it to me. You
see, I live and work in the Northwest
Territory of Canada. The only way it
is possible for me to get mail is for it
to be sent in by air. I am having to pay
a ten cent additional postage fee on
every copy of NOW which reaches me.
Now, ten cents doesn't seem like much,
but to a missionary living on a mission
allowance, it is a great deal."
I immediately wrote to NOW rea-
der that, in the future, we would send
NOW to him via air mail. He is one of
our most unusual readers for he is the
only reader who gets NOW by air. In
the letter I requested that he furnish
me with pictures and some informa-
tion about himself. The picture on the
front cover of this issue of NOW shows
Rev. Ken Gaetz, the NOW reader,
with an Indian as they start on a two
hundred mile trip to an Indian en-
campment on Buffalo Lake. Rev.
Gaetz carried the Gospel to these In-
dians for the first time.
The last paragraph of Rev.Gaetz's
letter reads as follows, "This winter
we will be traveling many hundreds of
miles and will be sleeping out in the
open in well below zero weather. The
winter days are short with only 5
hours of sunshine, so during the long
winter nights your copies of NOW
will be greatly appreciated." He might
appreciate letters from you, but re-
member AIR MAIL only. His address
is, Rev. Ken Gaetz, Hay River, North-
west Territory, Canada.
