Box 2307 Longview, Texas(Since this is Mr. and Mrs. LeTourneau's tortieth
wedding anniversary issue, we thought it appro-
priate that Mrs. LdTourneau be given an oppor-
tunity to express some of her thoughts. Since she
is the "power behind the throne" she also has
many convictions and philosophies about things
that carry much food for thought for everyone.)

I have been asked many times how
I can put up with my husband being
gone so much of the time. We read
in Genesis that God created woman
to be a helpmate to man and I've
always felt that where there is real
love a person is happier to see their
partner happy even though it is
sometimes lonesome. Making some-
one else happy always brings more
happiness to yourself.

so I tried to adjust myself to that
situation and tried to keep busy doing
something useful and helping others
rather than sitting home feeling sorry
for myself. Of course, I've always
tried to enjoy the little time we could
be together. I wouldn't enjoy him
being home for an evening if I knew
he was unhappy in doing so. He has
been home one evening that I can
remember in forty years but I feel
we have had a much happier life
together than most couples do.

camps with him all the time but IC909 peea

went and camped in a tent in the
summer time so we could be together
more. Otherwise I didn't see him but
once a week or once every two weeks.
It wasn't easy. We had to carry our
water from a spring and cook on an
old cook stove with wood and bark
gathered from the woods. Our stove
and table were out in the open under
the trees but we slept under a tent.
