Although always a

Retro news: Excitement
galore was created in
Stephenville and all sections
of Erath County as a result of
the Laney No. 2 coming in
with a heavy gas pressure
while drilling at 2645 feet last
Saturday afternoon. As soon
as the gas was encountered,
drilling was stopped and
arrangements made to cap the
well pending the time when
the well could be drilled to a
greater depth. Messrs.
Paschal and Trippett who are
drilling the well are of the
opinion that oil in paying
quantities will be encountered
when drilled deeper.
It has been estimated that
3000 people visited the well
Sunday. They came to see
what is expected to be a real
well. Some were speculators,
while others were attracted
thru curiosity.
According to the best
information that can be
gathered there has been very
little change in the well since
York.

UMC. She recalls that after
her second year of study, a
challenge was presented to
both her and her husband.
“They asked us”, she said,
“now that you’ve read the
Bible, what are you going to
do about it?” Max said, ‘I
think that we’re going to send
Sharon to the seminary, I
think she has the calling.”’
They both laugh as they
remember that comment, but
the fact was the Rev.
Robertson knew at that
moment that she had been
called to do more that just
