ing the rumored death of Hascom Nel-
son. who was said to have died in the
Phiippines several days since.
Inquiries concerning the reporjed
death of Nelson reached the depart-
ment from Waco and were immedlate-
ly attended to The record ahows that
Nelson was enlisted on February 25,
1901. at Amarillo He was assigned to
company K. Thirtieth Infantry The

for the moot ha of November and De-
cember shows him to Im- a member and

not mentioned in the scablegrams from
the Philippines giving thdaths of the
soidiers there, and there is no record
whatever of his death. However, his
