is Sampson, a 10-month old lion
with an aquatic bent.
Lions are normally lovers of
dry land, using water holes for
drinking and hunting purposes
only. However, Baltzell says,
Sampson frolicks in the pool with
his wife and 11-year-old daughter
“like a trained seal.”
The San Antonio realtor said he
first tempted Sampson, a refu-
gee from the San Antonio zoo, in-
to the water with a hunk of horse-
meat. “That did it. Now we can
hardly keep him out.”
The ponderous carnivore lives
in a little house of his own, at-
tached to the side of the Baltzell
home, which has a tempting view
of the swimming pool.
