HISTORY OF VATICAN’S
WAR RELIEF WORK

ROME, April 17.—Pope Benedict’s ef-
fort to bring about peace during the
war and to lend assistance to prison-
ers and all those Buffering in connec-
tion with the conflict are detailed In
an important work published by Gui-
seppi Quirico, a widely known Jesuit
father. .
This work, which is printed in nine
languages, deals with inquiries under-
taken by the Vatican regarding missing
prisoners and the hospitality offered
seriously wounded soldiers in Switzer-
land, where 30.000 British, French, Ger-
man and Russian patients were in-
terned.

School Fete and Auction Postponed.
The May fete and merchants’ auc-
tion planned by the Junior High stu-
dents ofr May 1 has been postponed
until May 8 on account at the po-
litical meetings and tag day for schots
that day. It was decided that the
school could show its patriotism bet-
ter by postponing Its own affairs In
favor of the tSate and the schools of

In the meanwhile plans are enlarg-
ing and a bigger and better show will

A wedding of much interest took
place on Saturday afternoon at 2:30
o’clock, when Oscar Free of Austin
was united in marriage to Miss Ethel
Olson of Round Rock, the ceremony
taking place at the residence of the
officiating minister. Rev. F. O. Linder.
Immediately after the ceremony the
bride and bridegroom went to Round
Rock on a bisit to the bride’s family,
after which they will be at home In
Austin at 906 East Fourteenth street.
On Friday evening, in honor of the
bride and bridegroom. Misses Irene and
Etta Belle Bergstrom entertained with
a delightful miscellaeous shower. The
house was decorated in charming ef-
fect with spring flowers, and games
and contests were enjoyed. Anton
Berkman won the first prize in an in-
teresting journey contest, and Arthur
Martin the booby. Refreshments were
served to about forty guests.
