Did you ever bear of a logmen's
strike? No! The men who toil like
giantn among the big trees and the
rushing streams of the timberlands are
too interested in their work and in the
spirit of competition, not only with
other lumber interests, but with the
very elements, to fold their arms and
halt the wheels of progress. They will
toil fiercely if for no other compen-
sation than to see their logs go down
to the mills ahead of their rivals’.
It is the big hearted spirit of the
men of the woods that permeates "The
Rider of the King Log," the Assocated
Exhibitors feature produced under the
personal supervision of its author, Hol-
man Day. In the world of literature,
Mr. Day is the greatest authority on
the cuetoms of the people of the beau-
tiful and romantic tate of Maine.
”The Rider nt the King Log" is the
feature attraction at the Crescent The-
ater today and Saturday.

CHICAGO, Oct. 7--Scattered specu-
lative buying gave an upward slant
today to the wheat market. Opening
quotations, which varied from un-
changed figures to %c higher, with
December at 81.13 to $1.13% and May
at 8118 to 81.18%, were followed by
a moderate sag and then by upturns
all around to well above yesterday's
finish.
Wet weather tended to strengthen
the corn market. After opening %
to %%c higher with December at
49%e to 49%c, the market continued}
firm.
Oats started %c off to e up. With
December at 35%e to 35%c, and later
hardened. ,
