With the holidays here, T.O.P.S.
। (Take off pounds sensibly) Tx #251
understands that times are hard for
the less fortunate. There are so
many families who won’t see a
turkey for Christmas or have any-
thing else to put in their stomachs.
While the fortunate go to bed with
their stomachs full, there are chil-
dren who go to bed with empty
stomachs. It is for that reason
T.O.P.S. is acting in the spirit of the
holidays and donating food to the
Food Pantry.
The Alvin T.O.P.S. chapter had a
contest called “Lose for Life.” The
contest ran from March 7, to Nov.
19. For every pound that the group
as 150 pounds. Together the group
lost a total of 172 pounds. Each per-
son brought more than enough non-
perishable food to the meeting and
T.O.P.S. ended up donating a total
of 205 pounds to the Food Pantry.
T.O.P.S. is a non-profit weight
loss organization that meets every
Tuesday at the Alvin Lutheran
Church. Weigh in is from 6 p.m.-7
p.m. with the meeting beginning at
